Xiaomi Unveils Shoe Washer With 8 Cleaning Modes for Just $116

Washing dirty sneakers in a regular washing machine isn’t always a good idea, especially when mud, sand and stubborn stains get trapped around the soles. Xiaomi thinks it has a better solution. The company has introduced the Mijia Shoe Washer 3KG, a compact washing machine designed specifically for footwear.

The new appliance can clean up to four pairs of shoes in a single cycle, offers eight washing programs and even includes a 20-minute quick-wash option. With crowdfunding starting at just 799 yuan (approximately $116), Xiaomi is targeting households that want a more convenient way to maintain their everyday footwear.

Xiaomi Mijia Shoe Washer Uses 360-Degree Cleaning

Unlike conventional washing machines built primarily for clothes, Xiaomi’s latest Mijia appliance uses a dedicated cleaning mechanism designed to reach different parts of a shoe. A high-speed rotating pulsator creates three-dimensional water circulation inside the drum. Xiaomi says this helps wash the outer material, inner lining and difficult-to-reach grooves along the soles.

The machine also incorporates a three-layer brush arrangement, combining bottom and side brushes to provide more complete physical cleaning.

Together, the rotating water flow and brushes are intended to remove common dirt, including mud, grass marks and sweat-related stains. Xiaomi’s promotional material also mentions a 0.9 washing ratio, although the company hasn’t clearly explained how this measurement was calculated.

However, the machine doesn’t have a confirmed heated-drying function. Shoes will still need to dry after washing, even when the spin cycle removes some of the moisture.
