Xiaomi Mi Smart Wireless Hair Straightening Brush 2: Price, Specs, and What’s New

Xiaomi has launched a new version of its cordless hair straightening brush in China, priced at 299.2 yuan, roughly $42. The Mi Smart Wireless Hair Straightening Brush 2 is now available, bringing a larger battery and upgraded heating hardware over the original model, according to a report from itihome.

Battery and Charging

Battery capacity is up 56 percent compared to the previous generation, giving the brush up to 70 minutes of continuous use on a full charge. It charges over USB-C, which has become the standard across nearly all of Xiaomi’s personal care hardware at this point.

Heating Technology and Temperature Control

The brush uses upgraded PI thermal technology, built around a polyimide heating film, with three selectable temperature settings: 160°C, 180°C, and 200°C. Heat is managed by an onboard NTC temperature control chip that makes real-time adjustments up to 500 times per second, which keeps output steady rather than letting it fluctuate mid-use.

The brush head itself has grown to 52 teeth, an increase over earlier versions, aimed at improving coverage and consistency per pass through hair.

Ion Release and Static Reduction

Xiaomi says the device continuously releases 37 million high-concentration plasma ions during use, made up of 18 million positive ions and 19 million negative ions. The company markets this as a way to reduce static and leave hair smoother. These are Xiaomi’s own figures rather than independently verified numbers, so they’re worth treating as a manufacturer claim rather than settled fact.

Build, Safety, and Design

The brush weighs 330 grams and uses a dual-layer heat insulation design to keep the exterior safer to handle during use. It also includes a flight mode lock, a small but practical feature that prevents the device from accidentally switching on while packed in a bag or suitcase.

It’s available in two finishes, gold and purple, both with a double-layer spray coating intended to improve durability and overall look over time.

Availability

The Mi Smart Wireless Hair Straightening Brush 2 is currently listed as a China-market release through Xiaomi’s usual retail channels. Xiaomi hasn’t announced any plans for international availability, and based on how similar personal care products have rolled out in the past, it may stay limited to the domestic market.

This release is a modest, iterative upgrade rather than a major redesign, and that’s fine. It fits a pattern Xiaomi has leaned on for years across its Youpin-adjacent product lineup: small, steady improvements to everyday gadgets, priced low enough that upgrading barely requires a second thought. The flight mode lock in particular stands out as the kind of detail that comes from paying attention to how people actually use a product, not just how it performs on paper.
