A Benchmark Listing Just Gave the First Real Look at Xiaomi’s Next Flagship Chip
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max has turned up on Geekbench, and the listing does more than confirm the phone exists. It gives an early read on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, the chip Qualcomm hasn’t officially unveiled yet but which is already showing up inside real test hardware.
According to a report by Gizmochina, the benchmark entry identifies the Chinese variant under model number M1544F, running Android 17 with HyperOS 4 layered on top.
Inside the Chip: A Three-Tier Core Layout
The Geekbench listing shows the chip carrying Qualcomm’s SM8975 identifier, built around an eight-core layout split into three performance tiers. Three cores run at 3.74GHz, another three at 4.03GHz, and the top two push to 5.11GHz. Graphics duties fall to an Adreno 850 GPU. The tested unit carried 11.0GB of available memory, which typically points to a 12GB RAM configuration once system overhead is accounted for.
The Numbers, and Why They Shouldn’t Be Treated as Final
On Geekbench 7, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max scored 3,582 points in single-core testing and 12,247 in multi-core. GPU results came in at 26,210 points under OpenCL and 29,934 under Vulkan.
Those numbers are worth reading with some caution attached. Pre-release hardware often runs on unfinished software, and benchmark scores from engineering samples can shift, sometimes significantly, by the time a chip reaches retail devices with finalized drivers and thermal tuning. What the listing does confirm reliably is the chip’s core configuration and the general performance tier it’s aiming for, rather than a locked-in final result.
Xiaomi Isn’t the Only One Showing Up Early
This kind of pre-launch benchmark leak is becoming the norm across the industry this month. Rival chips are following a similar pattern, with devices running MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600 series already surfacing on Geekbench, including the Vivo X500 Pro Max and Oppo Find X10 Pro Max. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, a step below the Pro variant reportedly headed for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, has already appeared in benchmarks tied to the iQOO 16.
That clustering isn’t a coincidence. Qualcomm and MediaTek both tend to formally unveil their next-generation flagship chips around the same window each year, which means device makers racing to be first to market with the new silicon often end up testing, and inadvertently leaking, benchmark results within days of each other.
What’s Left to Confirm
Nothing here is officially confirmed by Xiaomi or Qualcomm. Chip naming, exact specifications, and launch timing typically get locked down closer to an actual unveiling, and “Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro” itself is being treated as a tentative name pending Qualcomm’s own announcement. What the Geekbench listing does establish is that a working Xiaomi 18 Pro Max sample, running this chip, exists and is far enough along to be benchmarked, which is typically one of the more reliable signs that an official reveal isn’t too far off.
