An AI assistant is only as useful as how clearly it communicates what it’s doing. Xiaomi seems to be leaning into that idea with its latest update to Super Xiao AI, the voice assistant built into HyperOS 4, which now gives users visual confirmation when it’s handling a task instead of leaving them to guess.

According to a report by XimiTime, citing ITHome, the update, version 8.2 of the Super Xiao AI app, adds real-time animation feedback and the ability for active tasks to surface directly on Xiaomi’s Super Island interface.
Two New Tricks for the Assistant
The most immediately useful addition is what Xiaomi calls Code Number Island. Swipe three fingers up on any screen displaying a code, a pickup number, a locker code, that kind of thing, and Super Xiao AI automatically detects it and pins it to Super Island, where it stays accessible without reopening the original app.
The second addition, Car Ready Assistant, is aimed at people who drive Xiaomi-connected vehicles. A single voice command tells the assistant to adjust the car’s cabin settings based on the current outside temperature, getting the interior comfortable before the driver even gets in.
Both features lean on the same idea: instead of an AI assistant that just executes a command silently in the background, Xiaomi wants confirmation and follow-through visible on screen, tied into the Super Island system it’s been building out across HyperOS 4.
Rollout Details
The 8.2 update is rolling out in batches to users on the HyperOS 4 Beta, with Xiaomi expecting the full rollout to reach all beta testers within about five days. Beta users can check for it manually through the system app store, under “My Apps” then “App Updates.”
Anyone tracking HyperOS 4’s broader rollout, or wanting to check their own device’s eligibility, can do so through the MemeOS Enhancer app, which keeps tabs on system app updates and available builds. As with most beta features, availability may vary depending on device and region.
This update fits a pattern that’s become obvious across HyperOS 4’s beta cycle: Xiaomi keeps circling back to small, practical assistant and Super Island tweaks, pickup codes, and now car cabin prep, rather than saving everything for one big reveal. Individually, none of these feel like headline features. Stacked together over several beta updates, though, they start to sketch out an assistant that’s meant to quietly handle small daily friction points rather than just answer questions when asked.
