Xiaomi 18 Leak Reveals 6.4-Inch Display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, 200MP Triple Camera

Flagship phones have been creeping upward in screen size for years. The standard Xiaomi 18 looks like it’s bucking that trend. A fresh leak points to a 6.4-inch flat display, noticeably compact by current flagship standards, running a 1.5K resolution panel identified as M11.

According to a report by XimiTime, the information surfaced on September 28 via Weibo tipster @BaldPanda, who also pointed to a likely launch window around December.

Flagship Silicon and a Camera System Borrowed From the Pro Model

Despite the smaller footprint, the internals aren’t being scaled down to match. The leak points to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, paired with a 7200mAh battery supporting 100W wired charging and wireless charging on top.

The camera setup is where this phone starts to look genuinely flagship-tier rather than a stripped-down standard model. It reportedly carries a 200MP main sensor at 1/1.28 inches, matching the sensor size used in the Xiaomi 18 Pro, alongside a 50MP ultra-wide and a 200MP telephoto lens offering 3.2x optical zoom. That’s an unusually camera-heavy spec sheet for what’s technically positioned as the entry point into the Xiaomi 18 series.

A Certification Filing Adds Some Weight to the Leak

Leaks are one thing, paper trails are another. A device carrying model number M261DB passed certification with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on September 23, and that timing lines up closely enough with the spec leak to reasonably tie the two together. A separate global model number, 26122PN61G, has also surfaced, though notably, there’s no indication of an India-specific variant this year.

Essentially a Pro Phone Without the Second Screen

Put together, the picture that emerges is a phone built less like a scaled-down flagship and more like the Xiaomi 18 Pro with its rear display removed. Matching the Pro’s main camera sensor, running the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, and packing a battery that’s actually larger than what many phones twice its screen size carry, all point in that direction.

That positioning makes some sense given who Xiaomi appears to be aiming at. A compact, flat-screen flagship with top-tier internals and a serious camera system reads like a direct answer to Apple’s more compact iPhone offerings, rather than competing with the oversized curved-screen phones that dominate most of the Android flagship market right now.

For buyers who’ve been asking for a “small phone with big phone specs,” a compact device that doesn’t compromise on chip or camera hardware would be a fairly rare offering in the current market, where scaling down screen size usually means scaling down everything else too.

Still Unofficial, but Getting Closer

Xiaomi’s Group President Lu Weibing has already confirmed the Xiaomi 18 exists, without sharing launch specifics himself. Between that acknowledgment, the certification filing, and now a fairly detailed spec leak, the pieces are lining up toward a real December unveiling. As always with pre-launch leaks, though, final specifications and pricing should be treated as provisional until Xiaomi confirms them directly.
